After the 30 minute free website consultation Monica will begin work once she has received a $300 partial payment. 1 - Look at Other Websites to Get Design Ideas

What elements do I like in the websites that I have seen? • colors (do I have a logo which will determine the colors?) • navigation • general layout of their information Is their company information easy to find? • company name • contact information Are their websites easy to see on a mobile device?

2 - Plan Your Content

How many pages do I need for effective communication? • more pages = more opportunities for the search engines to find you What is the topic for each of my pages? • home | about us | contact us | service 1 | service 2 | information pages Do I need additional elements for my website? • Blog or shopping cart What images do I want on each page? • I take my own photos or I buy stock photos • www.123rf.com, www.shutterstock.com, www.sxc.hu Do I rely on local traffic? • list of cities with zip codes I serve

3 - Before You Write Your Website Content

How do the search engines see my website pages? • they look for common elements in (and behind) the pages • file name (Monica's job) • title tag (Monica's job) • description tag (Monica's job) • headings • text (writing) on the pages • information behind the images (Monica's job) The search engines will index your page for whatever keyword phrase that is in all of these elements on the page. • focus each page on one or two keyword phrases

4 - Shopping Cart, Blog, Google Analytics

During your free 30 minute consultation with me, Monica Levin, we will determine if you need to add a shopping cart or a blog to your website. Shopping Cart • to sell products | we recommend www.Ecwid.com Blog • when you will be adding content often • two kinds: off the website & on the website Google Analytics • can look at the visitor statistics on Google Analytics

5 - Write Your Website Content and Send to Monica

Write your content one page at a time: • choose a keyword phrase for the page • write the content for the page, including your keyword phrase in the headings and in the paragraphs Email content to Monica. In each email include info for one page: • which page the information is for • the keyword phrase, or two, for the page • text (headings and paragraphs) in the main body of the email or a WORD document attached • attach the images In addition, send an email with the Google Analytics code for your website and the username and password for your Google Account

7 - Updates

The search engines like to see that your website is being kept up to date. It would be ideal if you updated your website every month. Even if you do not want to change your content there are things that I can do in the background that would indicate to the search engines that the website is being kept current. I fee for website updates is based on my hourly rate and I recommend at least half an hour a month.

Either you or Monica can arrange for: • Domain Name • Hosting • Email Address(es) What Monica needs: • If you set up your domain name, hosting and email addresses yourself you can ask your hosting company for help. When you talk to them, tell them "my website designer needs the ftp username and password for publishing".
